Overdraft protection is a service to help you prevent returned checks and overdrafts on your Checking Account. Overdraft
protection is available from your Savings Account and/or from your Personal Line of Credit.
With overdraft protection, available funds are automatically transferred to your Checking Account to cover a check that
you have written or to pay an ACH -- a payment or transfer that you have previously authorized to be automatically deducted
from your account -- if the funds in your Checking Account at the time of clearing are insufficient.
Overdraft from Savings
Excessive overdraft transfers from your Prime Savings Account may result in a service charge
, in accordance with the following limits set by Federal regulations:
- Automatic overdraft transfers from Prime Savings to clear checks - The Credit Union
can move money from your Prime Savings to your Checking to pay for a check that you've written when the balance in
Checking is insufficient.
- Automatic overdraft transfers from Prime Savings to clear ACH withdrawals - The Credit
Union can move money from your Prime Savings to your Checking to pay for an ACH -- a transfer that you have previously
authorized to be automatically debited from your Checking Account-- when Checking funds are insufficient.
- Online Banking withdrawals or transfers from Prime Savings - You may use our Online
Banking service to withdraw funds in the form of a teller's check or you may transfer money online from your Prime
Savings Account to your Checking.
- Bank-by-Phone withdrawals or transfers from Prime Savings - You may use our automated
Bank-by-Phone service to withdraw funds in the form of a teller's check or you may use it to transfer money from your
Prime Savings account to your Checking.
- Point of Sale (POS) purchases made from Prime Savings - A Point of Sale transaction
occurs when a retail purchase is made with an ATM or Debit Card through your account and requires use of a personal
identification number (PIN).
- ACH withdrawals from Prime Savings - Transfers that you have authorized to be taken
automatically from your Prime Savings account.
You can use six of any of the above transactions (in any combination) during one calendar month. A service charge
will be applied per transfer to pay checks or ACH electronic charges for transactions exceeding
the allotted six. If your monthly limit of six
is exceeded for two consecutive months, future attempts to complete more than six of the above transactions during the
same month will be denied. This will cause the checks or ACH items to be returned unpaid (Please refer to the
Service Charges Schedule
for returned item service charges.) Transfers and withdrawals at an ATM are not counted as
part of the six transactions.
is an overdraft protection service that pays your check(s) when your checking account becomes overdrawn (negative). Checks drawn on your checking account or recurring automated transactions, such as monthly utility bills, are automatically covered by Courtesy Pay
. However, we cannot pay your Debit/ATM withdrawal transactions that may overdraw your account unless you give us permission. To protect your account and opt-in to Courtesy Pay
for your Debit/ATM transactions, log into your Online Banking account and select the "Other Options" tab from the menu. Go to the Courtesy Pay link and register. If you are not enrolled for online banking call our Member Contact Center
or visit your nearest Credit Union branch
to register and Opt-in for Courtesy Pay.
Overdraft from Personal Line of Credit
Overdraft protection is also available through your Personal Line of Credit if you have this type of loan. You must sign-up
for this service.
