Scholarship Opportunity for Adult Education, Technical, and Vocational Students of Miami-Dade County Public Schools

Have you heard the news? EdFed has a new scholarship program for students enrolled in an Adult Education, Technical, or Vocational career program with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS)! With EdFed's Career in a Year Scholarship, students can enter to be randomly selected in a quarterly $2,500 scholarship drawing throughout 2024. With four scholarships awarded for a total of $10,000, EdFed helps M-DCPS students get on the fast track to a new career!

Qualifying for EdFed's Career in a Year Scholarship is simple:

  • Drawing will be held on the last business day of each quarter; recipients are selected from all eligible entries submitted prior to the drawing in the calendar year
  • Recipients must hold an EdFed membership in good standing and have opened an EdFed account no later than six months prior to the date of the drawing
  • Scholarship is open to all M-DCPS Adult Education, Technical, and Vocational students actively enrolled in a qualifying program
  • Only one entry per student is required per calendar year; student may only be selected once and will be ineligible for future scholarship drawings

Official Rules
The Program begins on January 1 and ends on December 31st of each calendar year the Program is offered.

Four $ 2,500 Career in a Year Scholarships will be awarded during each 12 month period of the Program. Recipients will be selected from a pool of qualified applicants.

Administrator: This Program is administered and funded by Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed), 7800 SW 117 Ave., Miami, FL 33183.

Eligibility: Applicants must be members in good standing for the 6 month period preceding the application date, be enrolled in an MDCPS Adult Education, Technical or Vocational School and be registered in a course at the time of application. "Good standing" means applicant has not been delinquent on a loan or overdrawn on a share account for the 6 month period preceding the application date or at the time of the selection and has not previously caused EdFed a loss. Proof of qualifications must be provided within 30 days following notice of applicant's selection.

Applying: Applicants must apply on the online application provided on the dedicated landing page on EdFed's website. Applications must be complete and accurate to be considered.

Random Drawing: The scholarship is awarded quarterly and will be drawn on the last business day of the quarter then ending (Monday–Friday). The recipients will be selected from the pool of all eligible applications via a random drawing. Applications will stay in the candidate pool for the entire calendar year; however, a student may not be selected more than once during the calendar year. The Administrator, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters, will conduct the drawing. Odds of being a recipient depend on the number of eligible applications received. Selected recipients will be contacted via telephone, email, and/or mail. If the potential recipient fails to complete all required procedures, or is otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, the recipient shall be disqualified and an alternate recipient may be selected.

Notification: Selected recipients will be notified by telephone, email, and/or mail. Notification will only be provided to scholarship recipients. Non-selected applicants will not be notified.

Funding to Recipient: Funds are deposited into the recipient's EdFed checking or savings account.

Release of Liability and Publicity: Photographs of the recipients may be taken by EdFed for use in EdFed publications and may be released to the news media. Recipients must contact EdFed's Marketing Department to have their picture taken or they may submit an appropriate photograph. Scholarship recipients must consent to the use of their name, photographs, likeness, and limited biographical information for publicity and advertising purposes without further compensation, where permitted by law. All applicants release EdFed, as well as their officers, directors, employees, members, and all others associated with the development and execution of this scholarship program (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any liability with respect to, or in any way arising from, this scholarship program and/or acceptance or use of the scholarship funds, including liability for personal injury, damages, death, or monetary loss.
