  1. Do I need to maintain a minimum balance?

Membership in the Credit Union requires a minimum balance of $5 in the Prime Savings account. This $5 represents your share, or equity, in the Credit Union and as such, cannot be withdrawn as long as you are a member. In addition, it cannot be transferred to clear checks.

  2. Where can I find the Credit Union's ABA (routing) number?

The ABA or Routing and Transit number for South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union is 267077821. It can be located at the bottom left hand corner of your CU checks. You must provide this number in addition to your account number for electronic debit or credit to your account.
    • For Prime Savings Accounts, you will need the ABA number plus your regular 7 -digit account number.
    • For Checking Accounts, you will need to provide the ABA number plus your account number the way that it appears at the bottom of your CU checks.
If you need written confirmation of your account number or any additional information, contact the Credit Union. For security reasons, this information can only be given to you in person or by mail.

  3. Can I change my address over the telephone?

An address change cannot be made over the phone. You may download a change of address form online making sure to follow the instructions on the form and including your signature, or simply stop by any one of the Credit Union branches.

  4. Can checks still clear my account even when the Credit Union is closed?

The Credit Union branches may be closed when it is not necessarily a legal holiday, but keep in mind that the check clearing process still continues. Any day that the Federal Reserve is open, the Credit Union and other financial institutions must process checks as usual. Please be sure to have the right amount of money available in your account to cover any checks you have written.
