Food insecurity — the lack of reliable access to sufficient quantities of affordable, nutritious food — is one of the many obstacles that can keep Miami Dade College (MDC) students from succeeding in school.
South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union (SFEFCU) is committed to helping reduce hunger in our community. That is why we are collaborating with Single Stop at Miami Dade College to help students in need. The MDC Student Food Pantries provide a means for students to stay focused on their academic studies despite any untimely financial hardships.
Throughout March, the SFEFCU is hosting a Month of Giving to help students in need.
We invite you to help college students in need!
Here are three easy ways you can help:
Bring your non-perishable donations to any of our branches.
Below is a list of some of the items the Food Banks urgently need:
- Pasta, soups, and stews
- Canned meats, fruits, and vegetables
- Microwave meals (non-refrigerated)
- Peanut butter and jelly, cereals, breakfast bars
- Baby food, formula, diapers
- Hygiene products: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap
Purchase a student-designed t-shirt.
Ana Vergara, an Art Education major at Miami Dade College's Kendall Campus, created the "My 305" t-shirt artwork. All proceeds from the sale of this shirt will go to MDC's Food Pantries.
T-shirts are available in two colors and can be purchased at all SFEFCU branches and MDC Student Life Offices.
Make a monetary contribution through the MDC Foundation page.
